Pearl barley is barley groats and is most commonly used in the preparation of a well-known Slovenian dish, barley porridge.


Use it for barley porridge, meat and vegetable stews. You can serve it with flap mushrooms, sauerkraut or in a salad or risotto instead of rice. It is also delicious for breakfast with dried fruit (e.g. apricots), walnuts or almonds. It excellently complements avocado.

Tip: After cooking you should let the groats rest for a few minutes so that they soak up the water. Otherwise, you would pour away some of the soluble nutrients.
